Service Description:

Comprehensive evaluations conducted by occupational therapists and driving instructors to assess an individual’s ability to drive safely and independently * location utilized by the Ministry of Transportation as Functional Assessment Centre * occupational therapists and driving instructors ensure that drivers with cognitive, visual, physical or mental health challenges maximize their opportunities to navigate the road as competent, independent drivers and, if required, use modifications that are customized to their unique needs
The driving assessment process consists of two parts — a general assessment of physical function, vision, perception, attention, motor function and reaction time, in addition to an actual driving assessment on the road * based on the results, the team will make recommendations to ensure safety and promote independence * recommendations might include specific training or therapy modules, treatment sessions, and adaptive driving equipment that might be needed
