Service Description: Program for children who find it hard to cope with stress, control their behaviour or get along with others at school and the school has suggested support or counseling * the centre works with district school boards to support students' mental health needs

Various services are available within the program:
  • the child may attend a counselling session and receive help to identify strengths and figure out how to use these strengths to meet needs
  • the child may attend a group with other children. In some groups, children learn skills to control their behaviour. In others, help provided for children to identify their strengths and feel better about themselves. Groups can also help children feel less worried
  • parents may attend a group where they can talk to other parents and learn from each other and the professional staff
  • the child's needs may be met through weekly support in school, during their school day
  • may also be able provide help to the child and family in their home

Application: Speak to the child's principal or guidance counselor at the school
Eligibility / Target Population: Children 18 years and under * registered with the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board, Peel District School Board, Conseil Scolaire Viamonde, Le Conseil Scolaire de District Catholique Centre Sud * the child is likely to benefit from the services offered
